I use surfaces to permanently capture events that make up the background to everyday life, actions that are repetitive, can occur over long periods of time and are often forgotten or overlooked, as well as those that are fleeting and can mark significant occasions. The residue that remains on surfaces is retained in texture; tone and contrast, and the impact of the erosive forces on surfaces can leave an equally interesting and satisfying impression.
Initially my images have explored the impact of fire, retaining the memory of combustion like photographic negatives and an aroma that slowly fades. Recent proposals have the placement of large sculptural pieces in response to context and the influence that these objects have on the movement of those that come into contact with them, as well as continuing my interest in using surfaces to record moments in the obvious and subtle impressions that remain.
My education and experience as an architect has given me the interest and drive to explore ideas in a variety of creative mediums. I started exhibiting my work in 2008 and since then I have been actively looking for opportunities to explore and develop my work at a larger scale and in response to a variety of environments.
